background

Sarah graduated from the University of Bath with First Class Honours in 2014 and joined gcp shortly after. During her undergraduate degree, Sarah worked at award-winning practice Stonewood Design, based just out of Bath.

With the support of gcp, Sarah completed a Postgraduate Diploma with the RIBA Studio in 2023, where she pursued her interest in environmental psychology and the relationship between the built environment and wellbeing. Her research focused on the implications on architectural design of considering neurodiversity, particularly studied in the context of ASD on the one hand and personality psychology on the other. The quality of research and design intelligence demonstrated throughout her studies was rewarded with a Distinction as well as a nomination for the RIBA President’s Silver Medal.

experience

Prior to joining gcp, Sarah worked with private clients on bespoke homes, often located within sensitive contexts such as the Green Belt and Conservation Areas. At gcp, Sarah has particularly been involved in the feasibility studies, design and delivery of residential schemes at varied scales. Other projects include revalorisation of council-owned sport, cultural and community facilities, including work to Listed Buildings.

Sarah’s specific interests lie in the social impact of architecture. She is therefore passionate about community-focused projects and building relationships with user/occupiers. This had led to public consultation work and development of strategic briefs across multiple sectors, including residential and sport. Sarah combines care and understanding of others with a desire for technical excellence to deliver architectural solutions which provide long-term value to communities, both socially and environmentally.

Sarah has worked on the development of gcp's BIM protocols, drafting drawing and BIM standards as well as creating specific components and families to be used across our projects, enabling gcp to work efficiently and collaboratively with other consultants.

Sarah is a trained Principal Designer, enabling her to support all projects under the current CDM2015 Regulations.
