BA (Hons) Architecture and Planning - The University of the West of England Graduate Diploma in Architecture - Cardiff School of Architecture, Cardiff University

background

Matt started off as a labourer, working on traditional housing through to steel-framed construction. This sparked his interest in construction and architecture, resulting in the completion of a BTEC in Architecture, Surveying, and the Built Environment in 2011 with a double distinction. He then attended the University of the West of England and completed the double accredited BA (Hons) in Architecture and Planning in 2015.

Matt has a real passion for the detailed design of buildings with the ethos that good design is in the detail. Working as a technologist has enabled him to explore this particular interest professionally, while gaining valuable experience in the delivery of successful projects.

experience

Matt has worked at a variety of practices, across a broad range of sectors and scales. Before joining gcp, Matt gained a wealth of experience in the design and delivery of student accommodation. He also worked on large high-rise residential projects, as well as small to large scale residential schemes and mixed-use developments, using a variety of construction methods and current technologies.

Since joining gcp, Matt has worked on a large sustainable housing development, putting together construction drawing packages and 3D modelling. He has also worked on the detail design of a small block of timber-framed flats in Bristol.

Matt has significant experience using the BIM process and is fluent in relevant software. Matt is involved in developing gcp’s BIM strategy and applying best practice to our projects.
